Wood Flooring
Wood floors found in commercial applications require a specialty set of products for proper
coating and maintenance.
Coatings:
Wood floor coatings are either urethane based or are a urethane and acrylic blend. Urethane gives the coating durability and flexibility, which is important because wood floors expand and contract with seasonal changes in the environment.
A urethane and acrylic blended coating offers durability and flexibility, while also making the coating easier to apply and enhancing its adhesion characteristics. For sports floors, a urethane and acrylic blended product like TimberGuard™ Varsity is ideal.
Cleaners:
It is important that wood floor cleaners don’t leave behind a residue. If residue from the cleaning solution remains on the floor and builds up over time, it makes it difficult for future coats of floor coating to adhere properly. This is especially important in educational facilities where schools tend to recoat sports floors on an annual basis.
TimberClean™ is an ideal product for daily cleaning on wood floors.
Products like TimberClean™ Deep Scrub are also a valuable part of wood floor maintenance. These deep scrub products are designed for periodic use to remove embedded dirt and are an essential part of the preparation process before applying new coats of finish.
Bonding Agents:
During wood floor re-coating applications where the prior cleaning agents are unknown or not residue-free, TimberBond™ enhances the adhesion properties of the floor coating, making it more likely that the coating performs as desired.
